Holy crap! How long has it been since I posted anything here? Too long, my friends and I am here to rectify that problem. With Comic Con International rolling into San Diego in a few weeks, this is a good time to post new images and here’s why: I am going to try and get reviewed this year by professionals with an eye toward landing some sort of employment.
I was inspired by a panel at last year’s Comic Con, especially Bryan Miller, founder of Hi-Fi Colour Design, and thought this might be something I could do, an avenue for combining my love of comic books with my impressive Photoshop skillz. My goals this year: attend the portfolio review and stop by booths and show off my portfolio. My first attempt in three years at trying to be a professional at this thing.
So enough talk; let’s make with the coloring! In reverse order from newest to oldest:
Grifter from Wild C.A.T.S
The latest effort features Grifter swimming underwater to intercept his target.
Aliens: Page 4
Page 4 of an Aliens story. The mission here: how to make it dark, but still show off the action.
Aliens: Pages 2-3
Pages 2-3 of the Aliens story. It’s a double page spread.
Aliens: Page 1
Page 1 of the Aliens story where I attempted to make interesting textures.
Colossus, Emma Frost and Wolverine of the X-Men
A nice pin-up and a quick break from the sequential pages.
Fantastic Four: The End
A page from Alan Davis’ Fantastic Four: The End. More of an emphasis on Photoshop effects here.
Another Nail
A page from Alan Davis’ Elseworlds series Another Nail. Chosen obviously because of Green Lantern.
Secret Invasion
My first panel page. It’s a little rough, but I think I did a good job differentiating the characters amidst the action. It is one big fight page after all.
Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman
The big guns of the DC universe as imagined by Ed Benes.
Zatanna: Mistress of Magic
Another Ed Benes pin-up, this time of DC’s “sorceress supreme,” Zatanna.
