Karen Gillan Revealed as New Doctor Who Companion

Karen Gillan is the New Doctor Who Companion

The BBC has announced that 21-year old actress Karen Gillan will star as the new Doctor Who companion next year opposite Matt Smith. The virtually unknown actress has already appeared in the series four story “The Fires of Pompeii” as Soothsayer #2 (Just kidding! Her soothsayer was never numbered.). The Scottish-born actress had this to say about her upcoming role:

“I am absolutely over the moon at being chosen to play the Doctor’s new companion. I just can’t wait to get started,” she said. “The show is such a massive phenomenon that I can’t quite believe I am going to be a part of it. Matt Smith is an incredible actor and it is going to be so much fun to act alongside him,” she added.

New show runner, Steven Moffat had nothing but praise for the young actress, describing her as “…funny, and clever, and gorgeous, and sexy.” Although she has appeared in Stacked, The Kevin Bishop Show and the upcoming movie, Outcast, there is no doubt that Doctor Who is her most high-profile starring role.
